Rochelle at Seaboard Southern show this weekend

Peter September 16th, 2009

Just a reminder that you can see Rochelle Intermodal at the Seaboard Southern North American Railroad Exhibition this weekend, down in Horsham, West Sussex – more details on our website:Â www.seaboard-southern.org.uk/exhibition2009.asp

Unfortunately it won’t be the new extended version as hoped, as my day job has got in the way of progress – I haven’t worked on the layout for over a month, so couldn’t get the new extension ready in time. However, it will be done in time for Tolworth in November.

Hope to see some of you at the Seaboard Southern show – be sure to pop over and say hi!

Progress update…!

Peter August 5th, 2009

Right, it’s about time I did another update! Unfortunately the day job has been getting in the way…but I’ve slowly been making progress on the new addition…Caron Street.

I’ve been doing wiring troubleshooting, and can happily say board 1 of Caron Street has passed the first test! ie. no shorts! Now time to wire up the BDL168 block detector…I’ll be testing board 2 early next week, then will run wires across from that board to the BDL168 on board 1.

The first building has been completed, now just waiting for painting and weathering – the Walthers ADM Grain Elevator

I’m still deciding what branding to give it…Cargill is the leader at the moment…I’m busy working on the Oil Dealer kit, then will be tackling the Lumber yard. I’m hoping to have another update early next week…I had better get a move on, as this all needs to be finished by 19th September! Tick tock!!

I’ll be taking the existing boards down to my club, the Seaboard Southern group, in Crawley, so that our members can have a layout to run N scale stock on, and also so that I can have it up to work on, as I need to re-lay two points and do some weathering. At the moment I don’t have space at home to have that part of the layout up at the same time as I am working on Caron Street – I need a bigger house!! It will also give our members a chance to get used to running a DCC and computer-controlled layout…

Right, need to crack on! Look out for another update next week!

Yet another successful show!

Peter June 29th, 2009

Rochelle Intermodal was at the Ardenrail show in Solihull, West Midlands on Saturday. A very successful running, apart from the usual little hiccups, but seemed to attract plenty of attention! I spent most of the day answering questions about RR&Co and block detection as I had my PC monitor up showing the RR&Co screen and the train locations on the track plan. Many thanks (again!) to John Pitty, Pete Blake, Chris Green, Alan Crooks and Robin Joyner for their much appreciated help during the day to set up, operate and take down!

Rochelle Intermodal will be appearing at the Seaboard Southern Exhibition on Saturday 19th September. More details on the Seaboard Southern website. The layout will also be at the Tolworth 2009 show in November – more details to come closer to the time.

Industrial switching modules update

Peter March 30th, 2009

I’ve finished all the wiring on the two new boards, the industrial switching district (or ‘Caron Street’ as it will be known) – 8ft in total, which will be a nice addition to the exisiting 15ft layout.

Here are the two boards:

Board B

Board B (Industrial switching)

and Board C

Board C (Industrial switching)

The next step is to add the block detectors and the PowerPole connectors on the ends, then I can start on the scenery. I have all the buildings, apart from one, so I will start construction of these soon…

Another invite!

Peter March 30th, 2009

Rochelle Intermodal is now confirmed as booked for Tolworth 2009 in November! More details can be found on the Tolworth Showtrain website – this will be the layout as seen at Benson and Ardenrail, but with the new 8ft switching district, which will be debuted at the Seaboard Southern show in September. More on that later.
