Styrene apron completed…

May 18th, 2008

All the styrene has now been laid, and the apron is ready for painting and texturing. However, this will have to wait till I get back from Colorado in a few weeks as I am buying the concrete texture powder from Caboose Hobbies in Denver. I am also purchasing the ballast from them, so will be able to start on the track ballasting as well!

Here are the latest photos.

Progress report – 04 May

May 4th, 2008

Last night I carried on laying styrene sheeting for the yard apron. However, I unfortunately ran out of styrene, so will have to wait till Tuesday to get more.

After a nice fry-up this morning (bacon, eggs, tomato & cappuccino in case you were interested 🙂 ) I set to work on the layout again. This morning I test fit the fencing that will go round the whole layout. I am using Gold Metal Models etched-metal barbed wire fencing for the yard, and BLMA etched-metal fencing for other buildings.

It looks really realistic, and will look even more so when I get round to weathering it later on. Definitely worth looking into if you are looking for fences for your layout. Much more realistic than the net mesh and plastic-based fencing materials.

Off to find some lunch, then back to the layout. In the meantime, have a look at the latest photos in the gallery.
