Plywood walls progress

December 14th, 2012

The left hand wall of the garage is almost done – I had some time last weekend to do some work and managed to do most of the left hand wall.  Just need to buy some more plywood then I can carry on with the rest – if the rain goes away that is!!  You will see I have left the brick pillars uncovered.  The problem is that they are not straight – some lean backwards, some lean forwards, so was not viable to plywood straight across them – I would have had to bring the stud walls forward quite a bit which was not viable due to where the main beams were, and would have meant I would lose a lot more space from the width of the garage.  So I am going to have to box in the pillars – a little bit more work, but at least I will have straight walls!

I won’t be able to do any work this weekend, but I am taking time off between Christmas and New Year, so aim to finish everything then and I will then be able to book the electrician in for the New Year to come do the second fix.

Here is the latest photo of the walls:

Here is the start of the ceiling studwork and the insulation – I’m doing this to leave the beams exposed – will be a nice effect and also means the strip lighting will be recessed meaning more headspace – if I had just put ceiling board across the beams the striplighting would have been too low.
