Rochelle Intermodal N Scale Intermodal & Switching Layout

Rochelle Intermodal

Welcome to the Rochelle Intermodal website, showcasing my old N scale layout. This layout was loosely based on Rochelle, Illinois, and had an intermodal facility (based on Global III) and industrial switching areas (based on Caron Road, Rochelle, IL.). This website is a place to show you my old Rochelle Intermodal N scale layout, with photos and videos. This website is no longer being updated.

My new layout, BNSF Chicago Sub N Scale can be found on the following website: https://chicagosubnscale.com

Operations on Rochelle Intermodal

Here is a short ops session on Rochelle Intermodal.  The ROYA-CRID switching job switches the Caron Road Industrial Park at Rochelle, IL.  Sante Fe 5014 is a Kato SD40 locomotive.

New switching locations added

June 11th, 2017

I’ve just added a new switching location and moved an old one.  I’ve extended the spur that previously served ‘Southeast Wood Treating’ and have added two new switches – one leads to the new location for Southeast Wood Treating, the other has created two new spurs for Nippon Sharyo, the railcar manufacturer.  At the moment I have just pinned the track down and am hand-throwing the turnouts until I have worked out exactly what I am doing in this new section, but at least it adds two new spurs for operations.

Rochelle Railfan Tour Feb 2017

February 16th, 2017

A short tour of the layout, following an intermodal hotshot around the layout. Hopefully this gives you an idea of the locations of the various industries around the layout – not shown are the loco and classification yards (they are shown in previous videos).
